Summer is almost here, and with that said, can you believe we only have 18 summers with our kids?
Someone said that to me the other day, I thought to myself…”Whaaat? My kids can’t leave” “They can go to college from home”
Eeek…all jokes aside! Summers are special…and I want my kids to have the best memories of their childhood. Memories they can grow up remembering and take with them when they have kiddos of their own!
So, I decided to create a Jar with a bunch of fun things to do each night. I am going to write one activity down on a notecard, fold it up, and place it in a jar.
Each evening before dinner, I will have one of them (each taking turns) pick out an activity…and that’s what we’ll do!
It’s simple, it involves everyone AND it’ll give them something to look forward to!
Here’s a list of activities I added to my jar
You can also do this for dinner ideas, and come up with a dinner jar all summer long
Make S'mores
Go out to Ice Cream
Time for an evening drive
Family Walk time
Park before bedtime
Bake Cookies
Have a Dance Party
Read by the waterfall
Movie Night (I’d throw a few of these in)
Family Game night
Color a …… (pick one thing)
Sleep under the stars (we carry them in once they're asleep :) )
Camping in the backyard
Outdoor movie night
Let's go out to dinner
Make your own Pizza night
Have a backyard picnic
Karaoke night
Chick FIL A night
Chipotle Night
Fondue Night
Make chocolate Mousse
Let’s bake a cake
Let's have Breakfast for Dinner
Family Lego Night ( we all build one thing with Lego)
These are just some things that my family enjoys. The little ones are still little, so some of these activities are simple, quick, fun and easy.
As the summer rolls in, I am usually stocked up on quick cake mixes, cookie mixes, pizza dough, ice creams and stuff to grill up, making it easier when some of these items are pulled!
I hope this helps and I hope you spend your summer making memories!
Be sure to drop a note below with fun things that you’ve added to your list!
Happy Almost Summer
