Family Pictures!

Oh Pinterest! You make it look so easy!

It's that time of the year again.

I meant to post this earlier, but with Colorado's unpredictable weather, our photoshoot has been rescheduled 3 times now.

Needless to say, the amount of effort that we put into family pictures is unbelievable. What do we wear? How do we pose? And...my favorite! How can I look like I lost 10 pounds 🙈

THE TRUTH:

This is your kind of beautiful! So let it be just that!

As much as we get carried away by trying to make everything look perfect, remember, your family pictures tell YOUR story!

Each year we head up to Loveland, CO to work with Emily, owner of e.moonphotography.

She is absolutely amazing. She works great with kiddos, she’s amazing with pets AND she can make chaos look good!!

If you're in the Denver, Northern Colorado area, be sure to check her out!

Down to the main question...what do you wear? Should you match? Should you not? What colors work best, what doesn't?

My best piece of advice would be to find clothes that complement each other. Over the years, I have done the matchy matchy, the bold colors, the light colors and everything in between. In my opinion, I have found that the best pictures come from complementing colors and neutrals!

Neutrals photograph perfectly and they also pair well with bold colors, such as Black, White, Red and Yellow

Below are some of the colors combinations that I've done over the years

Blush, Ivory Gray

Navy, Ivory, Gray

Navy, White, Gray (I've done this one ALOT)

Ivory, Tan, Black

Red and Ivory

Peach, Navy, Ivory (This year's color choice)

We got lucky...everyone’s looking at the camera and everyone’s smiling!

Over the years, my favorite place to go to for coordinating clothes has been Old Navy, Gap and Macy's. This post is not sponsored by them; this is just my personal go-to because I have always found what I've wanted there!

Timing:

This is super important, especially when taking outdoor pictures. We love the Golden Hour because the pictures turn out AMAZING. Be sure to talk to your photographer about this!

Last but not least, take it easy! Be sure to make this a fun family experience that creates the best memories.
It’s YOUR beautiful story!

I Hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and I hope it answers some of your questions!

xoxo
